VITA ENAMIC®

  • Hybrid material which combines the characteristics of a ceramic and a composite employed for use with CAD/CAM technology
  • Hybrid ceramic  is comprised of a structure-sintered ceramic matrix, the pores of which are filled with a polymer material
  • Inorganic ceramic part is 86 wt%, and the organic polymer part is 14 wt% meaning less tendency for brittle fracture
  • Balances strength and elasticity and provides high absorption of masticatory forces
  • Can be mill restorations with thinner walls and very suitable for minimally invasive restorations
  • Enamel-like abrasion properties and antagonist protection achieved by the ceramic network
  • Higher elasticity than traditional ceramics as acrylate polymer network provides flexibility
  • Very reliable due to dual network structure and has a crack-stop function
  • Abrasion behaviour similar to that of enamel and reduces antagonist abrasion
  • Modulus of elasticity of hybrid ceramic can be compared with that of natural dentin
  • Flexural strength 150-160 MPa

Indications:

  • Minimally invasive reconstructions
  • Posterior restorations
  • Reconstructions in cases of limited space available
  • Reconstructions of minor defects ( eg. cervical veneers etc.)
  • Veneers and non-prep veneers
  • Onlays/inlays

Contraindications:

  • Bridges
  • Parafunction

Aesthetics:

  • VITA ENAMIC shades are matched with the VITA SYSTEM 3D-MASTER so that the hue, chroma and value allow for accurate shade determination and shade reproduction
  • Available in translucency levels HT (high translucency) and T (translucency) and 5 VITA SYSTEM 3D-MASTER shades 0M1, 1M1, 1M2,2M2 and 3M2

Finishing:

Special 2-stage polishing assortments have been developed for intraoral and extraoral polishing of VITA ENAMIC polishing sets.

Bonding:

  • Adhesive bonding of VITA ENAMIC restorations must be performed using light-curing or dual-curing fine hybrid composites
  •  A self-adhesive composite such as RelyX Unicem from 3M ESPE can also be used for bonding crowns (dentin adhesion)
  • Adhesive bonding of crowns should preferably be performed using a flowable, dual-curing composite (depending on the thickness of the layering)
